Growing Murasaki Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are one of the easiest crops to grow and reward you with pounds of food from just a few slips.
- In the Ground: Plant slips in well-draining soil, 12–18 inches apart, with rows spaced 3 feet apart. Keep the soil moist until established. In 90–120 days, you’ll dig up an abundant harvest of sweet, flavorful roots.
- In Containers: No garden space? No problem! Sweet potatoes grow beautifully in pots. Choose a container that’s at least 20 gallons (20 inches wide and deep or larger) to give the roots plenty of room. Use loose, well-draining potting mix, and let the vines spill over the sides or climb a small trellis.
